This consulting role will provide expertise, support and services with a focus on developing stronger and more meaningful relationships with school principals to continue to grow the outreach and quality of Scholastic Book Fairs. The main belief of this initiative is that when principals fully understand how Scholastic Book Fairs can help their school achieve their literacy, family engagement and fundraising goals, they will get more involved in the Book Fair and the power of the Book Fair experience will expand significantly.Objectives for the assignment include, but are not limited to: Act as a regional educational expert and create strong, mutually beneficial, partnerships with principals and other educational leaders in assigned markets. Host and facilitate Principal Exchange Networking Events and Professional Development workshops in assigned markets. The goal of this outreach is to increase awareness of the benefits that Scholastic Book Fairs provide to educators and ensure that principals in assigned markets understand and take advantage of our products and services. The number and specifics regarding events will be planned for in conjunction with the regional management team at the beginning of each season. Lead the promotion and facilitation of the professional development workshops to educators in assigned markets. Ensure that attendance goals are achieved for principal events and workshops through proactive networking and promotion. Support the Scholastic Book Fairs regional management team with personal outreach and visits with the team to key schools and accounts. The goal of this outreach will be to support the school and SBF with business development with a focus on the creation of an annual literacy calendar that takes advantage of all of the benefits SBF has to offer. In addition, this will provide an opportunity for hands-on coaching and skill building for regional managers in the area of principal outreach. Provide input on communications and marketing materials that are designed to reach principals and other educational leaders and provide input. Make suggestions for new tools and approaches to increase SBF effectiveness with principal outreach. Participate actively in principal outreach opportunities including group meetings and planning sessions, such as Regional Season Kick-off meetings and Principals' Advisory Board meetings. Responsible for supervision, safety and activities of children in assigned group while ensuring the safety of all children between the ages of 5-12. Will closely supervise a group of school-age children in all scheduled activities in the program; such supervision will consist of visual and auditory awareness as well as a pattern of circulating among the children. Will follow the pick-up and check out procedure. Will follow the discipline policy set in staff training. Will report supplies needing repair or depletion to the Camp Director. Will be completely responsible for the safety and well-being of each child in your group; must quickly move to attend to injured or ill child (be able to transport if necessary) and initiate first aid procedures. Will keep an accurate daily count of the children in your group each day. Will follow the field trip procedure set at staff training. Will attend all scheduled training sessions, staff meeting, and any other meetings deemed necessary by the Child Care Director for camp. Will assist in set-ups and clean-ups throughout the summer. Will report any illness or injury of a child or staff to the Child Care Director immediately following incident. Will report suspected child abuse to supervisor. Will implement site-evacuation/emergency procedures for fire, chemical spill, tornado, etc. Will function at a the camp providing leadership to up to 10 children. Job Requirements Must be at least 18 years of age (may be 16 or 17 year of age if enrolled in an approved high school career program and under direct supervision of qualified staff). High school graduate. 15 approved and documented training hours to be accumulated during school year. CPR and First Aid Certified. Staff with no experience in licensed child care must also complete 8 hours of pre-service orientation as prescribed by TDFPS. Training hours to be accumulated during school year. Relates well to elementary age boys and girls. Must have current Drivers License. Must have or obtain valid TB test. Must complete Safety Series Training 30 days from hire. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Ability to adjust from sitting to standing with ease. Ability to lift and carry at least 30 lbs.
