Teacher Jobs

There are a number of venues for educators interested in teacher openings to focus in.  All teachers should have the same basic responsibilities.  Instructors use a variety of methods, props, and discussions to develop students’ skills, and introduce them to concepts that will prepare them for life as an adult.  Occupations are generally divided by age of the students or a specific subject.

Childhood educators, or teachers licensed to instruct pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, use a variety of toys and loosely structured playtime in order to introduce the concepts of math, science, interpersonal, and language skills.  Elementary teachers are qualified to instruct grades 1-6, and sometimes 7th and 8th depending upon the institution.  They build on the skills introduced in previous years in a more structured environment, but some play is still encouraged to attract the students.  Middle school and secondary teachers generally specialize in a single subject and offer a more in-depth exposure to these topics.  Middle school instructors generally teach grades 5-8, while secondary instructors teach grades 7-12.

Researchers have discovered a direct correlation between teaching practices and the success of students in the future.  Due to this, it is necessary for teaching positions to be filled with highly qualified candidates, knowledgeable in many aspects.  In recent years, vast shortages in qualified candidates have left many teaching openings available for extended periods of time.  While teacher positions are generally distributed in accordance to population, inner city and rural schools generally have more teaching job openings than suburban teaching jobs.  City and rural schools are generally less equipped and have older facilities, with a greater possibility of being overcrowded.

In 2004, teacher employment held approximately 3.8 million jobs from childhood to secondary education, with the exception of special education positions.  In combination with the average growth projected for the teaching industry, there will be a large need of professionals able to replace many retirees.  The number of teacher positions at a school is not only determined by the number of enrolled students, but also by the funding available from government sources.  Experts are projecting an increase in the numbers of employment opportunities and pay for positions through 2014; therefore, many more candidates have begun their search for a teaching job.
